Congratulations on your continued effort for your Professional Development. Please read below to receive the best experience. As you go through the modules and the courses please be reminded these courses are designed for you to:

  • Identify and label the things you are already doing that are working. If we don’t know what we are doing specifically to create successes, it is difficult to repeat.
  • Introduce new information and help you learn, retain, reinforce and apply proven concepts, ideas, principles, systems and processes in the real world.
  • Take pause and think about your attitudes, behaviors, strategies and techniques as you go about your professional day. Warning: Much of this information can also be applied to your personal life.

Expectations: Below is the layout of most of the courses.

Content - new information, concepts, ideals, principles, systems and processes proven to be effective when applied in the right setting. While some may be non-traditional we applaud you for your efforts to improve. Be sure to practice in low risk situations. Like anything else the first time you do something it is not always as successful as when you have had practice. The more I practice the luckier I get.

Workbooks – These are questions you must type the answers to. Repetition is the mother of learning. We set this up for you to be able to state in your own words what you are learning. As you will see below cut and paste will cause your work to be lost. We are not interested in your computer skills. Additionally we are not looking for short stories, novels or long winded explanations. Just a few brief sentences to let us know you get it. You may toggle back and forth from the workbook to the outline on the left.

Field Exercise – This is for you to make commitments to how, when and who you will use this information with. In other words, what will you start doing or stop doing based on what you learned from the course/module. Education without application impedes improvement.

Feedback – Once you have completed your field exercise we want to know how it went. Good, bad, or ugly is not important. It is important that we can but, more importantly you can see different outcomes from different behaviors. Many times it is just as important to learn what not to do.

Thank you for your efforts and we wish you the best.

System Navigation and Tips for Success

Internet Explorer is the preferred browser and is the most stable for this system. If you must use something else we recommend Firefox/Mozilla or Google Chrome. Other browsers may cause issues and your work may not be saved. Please follow the navigation instructions below to insure that your coursework is saved properly. While Firefox and Netscape browsers are recognized in the program, we can only guarantee your work and progress will be recorded if you are using Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher.

Instructions to Navigate the Courses and Record Progress Accurately:

  1. After logging into the site using Internet Explorer choose the My Learning link at the top left of the screen.
  2. Next, you will see the heading My Learning and a list of all the courses assigned to you. To open a course, click on the VIEW link. This will open the module in a pop-up. You must use this new pop-up (not a new ‘Tab’ in the same browser) to view the module properly.

To allow pop ups from this site select Tools, then select Pop up blocker, then select Pop up settings, then select add. This will allow pop ups from this site.

***Note: In order for your progress in the modules to be recorded properly, be sure to leave the original My Learning browser open during your time in the site.

Closing the browser or navigating away from this browser prior to Selecting Save and Close and using the LOG OUT link will cause errors in reporting your progress and responses. The system will cache’ the course and you may not realize you have lost connection to our system until you have completed the exercise and select submit.
  3. Use the course navigation buttons (Back, Next, Table of Contents and Save and Close). Do not use the Browser navigation buttons. They do not command the course buttons.Use the Save and Close button after you finish viewing a course. If the Save and Close button is not used, the tracking and reporting data will NOT be saved in the application. Additionally, please log out before leaving a session.

You may NOT ‘cut and paste’ or ‘copy and paste’ your responses into the response area OR out of the response areas. ‘Cut and Paste’ and ‘Copy and Paste’ commands will cause your work NOT TO BE SAVED.

Your coursework responses are temporarily saved when you click the Next button. If you exit the course properly by using the Save and Close button, your responses will remain in the system and they will be visible when you re-enter the course.

If the browser is closed by clicking on the upper right-hand corner X, the bookmarking will NOT take place and your work will not be saved.
  4. When you finish your session, use the LOG OUT link in the top right-hand corner of the page. If you do not use the LOG OUT link your session will not be recorded properly and you will receive an error message the next time you log in that you are already logged in. If you receive the message, “You are already logged in on a different machine…” simply click “OK” to accept and continue logging in. This means you did not LOG OUT from your last session.Note: Do not use the upper right-hand corner X to close the course or your progress, and responses will be NOT be recorded!
